A Resource to Improve Your People Skills
I like to listen to podcasts as I walk around campus. A podcast is an audio recording that you can play on your iPod or MP3 player. Often they are like talk radio and have news, tutorials, etc. They’re great because you can find lots of free resources and pick and choose what you listen to (rather than rely on a radio program to decide).
One podcast I have really enjoyed is Manager Tools. It’s designed to help people become better managers, and the hosts are two guys who present lots of insights and a ton of detail in a clear/concise way. I’m not a manager, and I don’t know if I will ever aspire to that, but the reason I listen to it and enjoy it is that I have learned about interacting with other people. I recommend it as an entertaining and useful way to learn.
